#87: How to Cook With Medical Marijuana

Although marijuana is illegal in many countries, there are a few places where it has become an acceptable treatment for certain diseases and cancers. Unfortunately for many of these patients even the ability to ingest marijuana once it is prescribed can be difficult. This guide will attempt to provide another option for those who have a prescription for medical marijuana, but find it difficult to smoke it.

Cook With Medical Marijuana

STEPS

  • 1
Find a recipe for a baked good that you enjoy. This can include brownies, cookies, even some breads. The key here is to find a recipe that calls for butter as an ingredient.
  • 2
Prepare the dish as you normally would, except when it comes to the butter. Prepare a sauce pan by placing it on the stove on a low setting. Place the butter in the pan. It may be beneficial to use about a third more butter than originally intended, as you will loose some of it to water evaporation.
  • 3
As the butter melts, gradually add your cannabis. Allow the butter to fully melt while stirring it together. This can smell a bit, so be prepared to turn on a fan or open a window.
  • 4
Simmer the butter-cannabis mixture for about ten minutes. The heat will help activate the chemicals inside the plant matter, similar to a vaporizer.
  • 5
Add the butter mixture at the appropriate time for your recipe, and continue as normal.
  • 6
Once the baked good is done cooking and cooling, enjoy it slowly. When in food the THC and other active chemicals can take longer to be processed by the body. If you don't immediately feel anything, do not be surprised. Exercise patience and wait a while.
